Change
December 20th, 2007Change: To give a completely different form or appearance to; transform.
To change your life you must change YOU. If you want to get rich, then you must be rich. If you want to get healthy then you must be healthy. It’s the biggest insight I realized and share on my ‘About’ page. A few years ago I had an experience that made me realize that if life is going to get better then I need to get better. If I change then my world will change too.
In the past 12 months I’ve seen some drastic changes occur in my life. I’ve lost weight, I’ve written over 40 articles for this blog and I’ve published 4 of these articles for Confidence Bound Magazine. I’ve created two new streams of residual income and I’ve increased my monthly earnings by over 25%. I’m also the proud owner of my very first home.
Reflecting back over the past 5 years, I’ve realized some even greater changes. I proposed and married Trisha, started new relationships with my new mom, dad, and brother. I’ve also transformed the relationship with my dad and the people in my immediate family. Some people even say they don’t recognize me anymore :) I’ve also built two new businesses part time and I’ve created new habits in the way that I speak, think and act.
I’m not the only one unique to change. You are also evolving and changing. This is a universal principle inherent in all of us. The movement of energy throughout the world is dynamic and changing all the time. Energy and change are never static. If there is one constant in the world it is change. When a young child is growing you can easily see and identify with their physical and mental changes. You can see their feet get bigger, their muscles grow and their body structure change. You can see their behavior and attitude change as well as their core values and beliefs. All of these changes are a result of human growth and evolution. If there is one constant in the world, it is change.
When we look at change from a biological point of view, we can see that the human body is changing and evolving all the time. If you were to take an inventory of all the cells in your body one year ago and compare those cells to the ones you have today, you would discover that 100% of your old cells have been replaced. In effect you have created an entirely new body. This is a scientific fact. Your cells are continuously splitting and developing new cells to further your progress and growth. In a years time you’ve successfully created entirely new organs, bones and tissue. You are continually changing and evolving as a human being.
Thoughts change too. Attitudes you once had about a specific person in your life may be completely different now. You may believe certain things today that you didn’t believe years ago. You may think differently about money and finances than you did in the past. You may even have changed your thoughts or opinions about the subject ‘change’ as you are reading this article. If there is one constant in the world, it is change.
The Purpose
The purpose of change as I understand it is to grow and become more. By becoming more you are able to be, do and have more. By being, doing and having more you are able to express yourself to your fullest capacity. In my experience, the purpose behind all change and growth is to evolve as a human being in order to express yourself to your fullest potential.
NLP
Sometimes change can be rapid and immediate. In NLP there is a very powerful exercise with timelines. The timeline exercise is very quick and effective. Its’ purpose is to ensure that you follow your hearts desires and overcome obstacles that are holding you back. To keep you moving forward and evolving. I’ve experienced change with this exercise in as little as one hour. I remember working with a classmate of mine who had always been interested in purchasing real estate. He knew the ins and outs, the tax strategies and almost everything related to the real estate industry. Despite his knowledge on the subject he still had not bought his first property. Within 6 weeks of completing the timeline exercise he had purchased his first rental property. After this exercise he was able to quickly identify internal resources that he could use to achieve his goal. Once he made the internal change he was able to realize external results.
If change is so natural and a part of who we are then why don’t more people change? In my own opinion I believe that most people do not change because they keep focusing on the past. If you keep focusing on the past, then you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten. If you start focusing on the experiences you want to have in the present and in the future you will start to manifest those changes into your life.
As we stroll into the new year and you think about what you want to be, do and have ask yourself this important question:
Do you want keep getting what you’ve always gotten or do you want to make a change?

What happens when someone wants to die, as their quality of life isn’t there anymore? Should one ask them to change their attitude and find something else to do with their life? Does change affect the mood of the people around them? If a person’s heart is still pumping, he is eating well and digesting his food, should he follow his heart’s desire and proceed towards death? Should the family discourage this desire and ask God for help in changing the mind of this Family Member? When is change good or bad and what defines following your heart’s desire? Is death a negative or positive action and when do we know when to Let Go and Let God look after the situation? My affirmation today is “I open myself to the wisdom of the Universe” and see what happens.

Wow, some really good questions.
In my experience, my hearts desire is the path that leads me to my higher self, higher energy and a more fulfilled existence. I feel blessed to be alive.
I don’t think change is good or bad. To make it good or bad would be to judge. I think change is a decision - we either want to change or we don’t. If we don’t want to change it doesn’t mean that we’re bad/wrong/lazy. It just means we don’t want to change.
As for death, I think that there is an opportunity in death. Although I have never had anyone close to me die, I think that with every tragedy there is an opportunity, lesson or opening towards a greater life.
In my opinion, your job is not to convince others what they should or should not do. Your job is to focus on yourself, to grow, be the example and be the light for others…. this in my experience will influence others to change.
